Connected Finland had the honour to take part in Sigfox’s webseries with our partner Leanheat. The series discovers how the Sigfox 0G network makes things come alive all over the world. In the second episode the focus is in energy savings: Leanheat’s solution provides real-time optimization not only for individual buildings, but entire clusters of apartment buildings – while at the same time giving the opportunity for district heating companies to serve their customers more efficiently and with a smaller carbon footprint.
– For example, buildings consume in EU 40% of all energy. When I look at the technology available for attacking that 40%, it has been mostly about improving new construction and deep renovations. And building stock renews only by 2% each year, so if we rely on this, it takes us 50 years to make existing buildings energy efficient. And we are not ready to wait that long, tells Jukka Aho, Managing Director of Leanheat.
According to Aho, Leanheat wants to tackle the problem ambitiosly in the 98% of the already existing buildings. It is important for the company to know what is going on in the buildings in order to optimize the energy consumption. In order to do that, it is vital to know the temperature and humidity inside. With the promise of 0G Leanheat can track when it easily and economically.
– Here in Finland we want to reduce our impact on nature and 0G network can support us with that. I think that all the 0G enabled technologies are here to help us, says Ida Vehnämäki, Communications Specialist of Connected Finland.
