Espoo, Finland – 10.10.2017 – Sigfox Operator Connected Finland and Finnish IT Service company Integral have signed a connectivity deal of 60 000 Sigfox subscriptions. Companies have been collaborating in various customer projects where Integral provides customers with overall IoT services and Connected Finland subscriptions and Sigfox devices. As the numerous pilots have grown rapidly into commercial executions – Integral decided to invest on a bulk deal in order to benefit from the associated lower unit costs. As part of the signed agreement the companies also strengthen the co-operation in product development of devices and IoT-platfom.
Sigfox is an ultra narrowband internet of things (IoT) network operating at the moment in 36 countries. The technology is optimized to provide a low-cost, low-power option for connecting simple devices directly to the internet. Devices can operate on battery power for up to a decade, opening up new business models and solutions that were not previously possible due to battery and cost constraints. Sigfox partners with local companies to build and maintain the network in each country, which in Finland is operated by Connected Finland. Network currently covers 85% per cent of Finnish population.
Integral chose Sigfox connectivity because of it’s three unique selling points – long battery autonomy, low connectivity costs and ultra-low cost devices. Integral uses other connectivity technologies in it’s IoT-portfolio but for mass deployments is seeing Sigfox as a perfect fit.
“Based on various ongoing customer pilots we have recognized demand for productized IoT-solution which enables customers rapid deployment and immediate utilization of devices sensor data. Joint operation together with Connected Finland has nimbly enabled development and productization of IoT-services fulfilling customers’ needs. This deal allows us to respond to the growing volume”, says Mr. Risto Reinikka, Head of Products and Services Offering of Integral.
“Integral has been our close partner for almost a year and we are delighted to see various mutual customer projects now scaling up to the next level and into real commercial use. This is a good proof of local market adoption of Sigfox as a sound IoT-technology.”, says Marko Vanninen from Connected Finland.
